Central Banks: The Federal Reserve Beige Book of recent regional economic conditions will be published, and a slew of Fed officials have public speaking opportunities including Goolsbee, Williams, Bostic, Mester, Daly and Logan. Lane, Schnaebel and Guindos of the European Central Bank and Bailey, Haskel, Breeden, and Ramsden of the Bank of England will be making public remarks as well.

Special Events: IMF/World Bank spring meetings in Washington D.C. run from Tuesday thru Friday. A meeting of European Unition Council is scheduled Wednesday, and general elections in India begin Friday but do not wind up until early June.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Data Releases: Retail sales, industrial production, capacity usage, Empire State and Philly Fed manufacturing surveys, housing starts, building permits, existing home sales, National Association of Homebuilders housing market index, the indices of leading and coincident economic indices, and Treasury-compiled capital flows. Also weekly jobless insurance claims,  mortgage applications, chain store sales and energy inventories.

Japanese and Chinese Data: Japanese consumer prices, machinery orders, tertiary index and trade balance. Chinese 1Q GDP and monthly retail sales, industrial production, fixed asset investment, foreign direct investment, and unemployment rate.

Selected Other Asian Releases: Indonesian, Indian, Singaporean, and Malaysian trade balances. Indian wholesale prices, Indonesian  consumer confidence, South Korean import prices, and Hong Kong unemployment.

Euroland Data: Industrial  production, construction output, revised CPI, current account, car sales, trade balance, and ZEW index of investor sentiment.

Members of the Euro Area: German wholesale prices, producer prices and ZEW expectations index. Italian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Austrian and Cypriot consumer prices. French business confidence and index of leading economic indicators. Italian, Belgian and Irish trade balances. Ireland’s construction purchasing managers survey, Italy’s current account, and Finnish consumer prices.

U.K. and Switzerland: British CPI, PPI, retail sales, labor market statistics, and index of leading economic indicators. Swiss trade balance, producer prices, and import prices.

Eastern European Releases: Czech and Russian producer prices. Bulgarian and Polish consumer prices.

Nordic Europe: Danish PPI, Icelandic CPI, and Norway’s trade balance.

Australia and New Zealand: Australian labor statistics and index of leading economic indicators. New Zealand quarterly CPI and monthly service sector purchasing managers index.

Turkey and South Africa: Turkish and South African current accounts. Turkish retail sales and unemployment.

Brazil and  Mexico: Brazilian business sentiment and index of leading economic indicators. Mexican retail sales.

Canadian Economic Data Releases: Housing starts, consumer prices and survey of manufacturing shipments, orders and inventories.
