Waiting for the Fed Announcement

The dollar and yen have slipped 0.4-0.5% against the euro, Swiss franc and Aussie dollar.

Japan’s Nikkei and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng closed 1.5% and 1.3% stronger.  Stocks are up 0.6% in Germany and Britain.

The Japanese 10-year JGB fell a basis point to 0.45%, while the German bund and British gilt marked time.

Oil rose 1.0% to $82.20 per barrel.  Gold slid 0.2% $1,227.50 per ounce.

The FOMC releases its 7th scheduled policy announcements of 2014 later today.

Japanese industrial production in September rose 2.7%, most since January and enough for officials to reclassify the assessment from a weakening trend to fluctuating indecisively.  Production

New Zealand business sentiment rose strongly in October, following a series of declines.

Swedish consumer sentiment fell in October.
