The dollar, despite a scenario that favors reserve currencies, is slightly lower against most other currencies. A 0.2% rise versus the yen is a notable exception. Gold and Bitcoin prices are around 1% lower.
Indian consumer price inflation, which had been as low as 0.25% last October, rose to a year and a half high of 4.4% last month.
Romanian CPI inflation in June settled back to half a percentage point below May’s 37-month high of 10.9%.
Serbian CPI inflation defied expectations of further acceleration in June, instead sliding to a 4-month low of 2.7%.
Turkey’s current account deficit of $30.7 billion in the first half of 2026 was 29% wider than a year earlier. Likewise, India’s current account deficit widened 32% to $169.5 during the first half of this year.
The composite and service sector purchasing manager indices for New Zealand crossed the 50 neutral level for the first time since January and each registered six month highs of 53.4 and 50.6, respectively, in June.
