Central Banks: Far fewer monetary policy reviews are scheduled next week than this one. Meetings in the coming period are planned in Mexico, South Africa, Norway, Hungary and Chile. The growing speculation today that 2026 will see a number of central banks switch direction and actually raise rate will probably persist next week, especially with several central banks led by Fed Chairman Powell scheduled to be speaking publicly. Others include Taylor and Greene of the Bank of England, Cipollone, Kocher and Sleijpon of the European Central Bank, Reserve Bank of New Zealand Governor Breman also on that list. Also, Bank of Japan Board minutes will be published.
Holiday and Events: Eid al-Fitz celebrating the end of Ramadan will continue in several countries including Turkey, Indonesia and Malaysia. A variety of elections also will take place: Denmark’s general election, a state election in South Australia, a parliamentary election in Slovenia, the second round of French municipal elections, and Rhineland-Palatinate Germany’s regional election.
Scheduled U.S. Economic Data Releases: Quarter productivity, unit labor costs, and the 4Q and full-2025 current account Monthly S&P Global’s preliminary U.S. March purchasing manager surveys, Richmond and K.C. Fed manufacturing surveys, import prices, construction spending, Chicago Fed National Activity Index, and U. Michigan consumer sentiment. Weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, energy inventories, and chain store sales.
Euroland Releases: Preliminary PMI survey results, money growth, domestic credit expansion, and the economic sentiment index.
Members of the Euro Area: French and German preliminary PMIs. German, French, Italian, and Belgian business sentiment. German, Finnish, French, Italian, Belgian and Finnish consumer confidence. Irish, Portuguese, Latvian, and Slovenian retail sales. Lithuanian current account and industrial production. Finnish, Slovakian and Spanish producer prices. Dutch current account and GDP. Austrian manufacturing PMI and German import prices.
U.K. and Switzerland: British CPI, PPI, retail price index, current account, retail sales, consumer confidence, distributive trades survey and preliminary PMI surveys. Swiss current account and investor sentiment.
Nordic Europe: Icelandic CPI and PPI. Danish and Norwegian retail sales. Danish and Swedish consumer confidence. Swedish producer prices and trade balance.
Eastern Europe: Polish retail sales, Russian industrial production and Hungary’s current account. Russian and Czech consumer sentiment.
Japanese and Chinese Releases: Japanese preliminary PMI findings, consumer prices, corporate service prices and index of leading economic indicators. Chinese corporate earnings, index of leading economic indicators and current account.
Selected Items from Other Asia: South Korean and Malaysian PPI. Indian and Singaporean industrial production. India’s index of leading economic indicators and preliminary PMI survey results. South Korean business confidence and consumer sentiment.
