Central Banks: Monetary policies will be reviewed in the United States, Japan, U.K., South Africa, taiwan, China, Switzerland, Indonesia, Sweden, Hungary, Norway, Turkey and the Philippines. Fed Chairman Powell, BOJ Governor Kuroda, RBA Assistant Governor Bullock, and Governor Bailey and MPC member Tenreyro of the Bank of England are some of the central bankers who will be speaking publicly. FOMC forecasts will be updated.

Events and Holidays: Canada’s parliamentary election is scheduled September 18th. Japan’s Respect for the Aged holiday and China and Hong Kong’s Mid-Autumn Festivals occur early in the period, and South Africa’s Heritage Day falls on Friday.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Data Releases: The quarterly current account and monthly housing starts, building permits, existing home sales, new home sales, Chicago Fed National Activity index, KC Fed manufacturing index, National Association of Home Builders housing market index, IHS-compiled purchasing manager survey preliminary findings, and index of leading economic indicators. Weekly jobless insurance claims, consumer comfort, chain store sales, energy inventories, and mortgage applications.

Japan and China: Japanese consumer prices and purchasing managers survey. China’s index of leading economic indicators.

Other Selected Asian Releases: Malaysian, Singaporean and Hong Kong consumer prices. Taiwanese and Singaporean industrial production. Taiwanese retail sales and unemployment. south Korean PPI, Thai trade balance, Hong Kong current account and Indian index of leading economic indicators.

Euroland Releases: Consumer confidence and preliminary purchasing managers survey results for September.

Members of the Euro Area: German and French PMI surveys. Greek, Portuguese, and Dutch current accounts. Irish and Spanish trade balances. Dutch and Spanish GDP. German, Belgian, Dutch and Italian consumer confidence. Italian, French, and Belgian business confidence. German IFO business confidence, Finnish unemployment and Dutch household spending.
