Holidays and Events: will be observed Monday in Canada (Civic day) and India (bank holiday). The onset of August ushers in the summer vacation season, but with Covid resurgent travel may be restrained.

U.S. Statistical Economic Data Releases: Labor Dept’s monthly employment situation report, factory orders, construction spending, motor vehicle sales, the N.Y. regional PMI (NAPM), the IBD/TIPP optimism index, consumer credit, the trade deficit, and ADP’s estimate of private sector jobs. Also weekly jobless insurance claims, consumer comfort, chain store sales, mortgage applications, and energy inventories.

Euroland: Retail sales and producer prices.

Members of the Euro Area: German, Belgian, Austrian, and Italian retail sales. German, French, Spanish, Italian, Irish, Austrian, and Portuguese industrial output. Spanish, Irish, Austrian, and Portuguese unemployment. French, Austrian and Greek trade balances. Dutch and Cypriot consumer prices. French current account, German industrial orders, and Austrian producer prices.

U.K. and Switzerland: British Halifax house price index. Swiss retail sales, CPI and consumer sentiment.
