Purchasing Manager Surveys: The results of more than 60 surveys taken in October and covering manufacturing, service sector activity and construction will be reported during the period.
Holidays and Special events: Japan observes Culture Day on Monday. An off-year and local election in the United States occurs on Tuesday. Races for Governor in Virginia and New Jersey as well as a number of judicial selections, municipal elections, and propositions will be interpreted as barometers of voter approval for President Trump and MAGA politics. The United States and Canada return to standard time, turning clocks back an hour on Sunday. The U.S. federal shutdown persisted through the entire month of October, but President Trump has given Republican senators new marching orders, requesting that they scrap the chamber’s filibuster rule to expedite an end to the shutdown. His shift greatly enhances the chances of a breakthrough in the talks and creates extra uncertainty regarding U.S. data releases in the period.
