Special Events and Holidays: Hungary’s rotating six-month presidency of the European Union ends on Tuesday and will be followed by Poland’s turn in the first half of 2025. New Year’s Day on Wednesday is the most widely shared holiday around the world.

Purchasing Manager Surveys: December manufacturing surveys will arrive for over 35 economies. Russia’s services PMI and the ISM U.S. and Chinese NBS-compiled manufacturing and nonmanufacturing PMIs get published, too.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Data Releases: Labor market statistics (hourly wage growth, nonfarm employment, and the jobless rate, home prices (Case-Shiller and FHFA indices), pending home sales, Chicago Fed manufacturing PMI, Dallas Fed manufacturing index, and construction spending. Weekly jobless insurance claims, energy inventories, chain store sales and mortgage applications.
