Central Banks: The Czech National Bank will review interest rate policy on January 3rd.

Special Events and Holidays: Hungary’s rotating six-month presidency of the European Union ends on Tuesday and will be followed by Poland’s turn in the first half of 2025. New Year’s Day on Wednesday is the most widely shared holiday around the world.

Purchasing Manager Surveys: December manufacturing surveys will arrive for over 35 economies. Russia’s services PMI and the ISM U.S. and Chinese NBS-compiled manufacturing and nonmanufacturing PMIs get published, too.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Data Releases: Labor market statistics (hourly wage growth, nonfarm employment, and the jobless rate, home prices (Case-Shiller and FHFA indices), pending home sales, Chicago Fed manufacturing PMI, Dallas Fed manufacturing index, and construction spending. Weekly jobless insurance claims, energy inventories, chain store sales and mortgage applications.

Selected Asian Releases: South Korean and Indonesian CPI. South Korean and Thai trade balances. Hong Kong, South Korean, Indian and Singaporean retail sales. South Korean industrial production.

Euroland: Money and bank lending growth.

Members of the Euro Area: French, Cypriot, Slovenian and Spanish consumer prices. Austrian and Cypriot producer prices. Finnish and Portuguese consumer confidence. Croatian, Latvian, Portuguese, and Cypriot industrial production. Spanish and German unemployment. Italian GDP.

U.K. and Switzerland: British shop prices and Nationwide house price index. Swiss leading business cycle index.

Other Europe: Romanian and Bulgarian producer prices. Hungary’s trade balance and Icelandic unemployment.

South Africa and Turkey: South African industrial production. Turkish CPI, PPI, and economic sentiment.

Mexico and Brazil: Mexican unemployment. Brazilian producer prices.
