Central Banks: Interest rate policies will be reviewed at the European Central Bank and in Australia, Canada, Armenia, Peru, South Africa, Switzerland, Serbia, Ukraine, and Peru. This will be the first Swiss National Bank Governing Board meeting presided over by Chairman Martin Schlegel, who succeeded Thomas Jordan on October 1, 2024. The Bank of Japan’s quarterly Tankan survey of corporate conditions and expectations will be published Friday. ECB President Lagarde, Bank of Canada Governor Macklem, RBA Governor Bullock, and BOE MPC member Ramsden are some of the central bank officials speaking publicly next week.
Events: French President Macron has promised to unveil his prime minister choice within a few days. On Saturday, December 7, the South Korean parliament is expected to impeach the country’s president.
Scheduled U.S. Data Releases: Quarterly unit labor costs and productivity growth. Monthly CPI, PPI, import prices, small business sentiment, inflation expectations, and the federal deficit. Weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, energy inventories and chain store sales.
Japanese and Chinese Releases: Chinese and Japanese international reserves. Japanese quarterly GDP and monthly machinery orders, machine tool orders, corporate goods prices, import prices, industrial production, capacity usage, current account, bank lending, money growth, and economy watchers index. Chinese CPI, PPI, trade balance, money growth and bank lending.
Selected Other Asia Releases: Indonesian consumer confidence, retail sales and consumer prices. Malaysian and Indonesian industrial production. South Korean and unemployment unemployment.
Euroland Releases: Industrial production, Sentix gauge of investor confidence, and index of leading economic indicators.
Members of Euro Area: German, French, Spanish, Lithuanian, Latvian, Irish, Dutch Finnish, Slovakian and Portuguese consumer prices. Italian, Finnish, Austrian, and Slovenian industrial production. German and Spanish index of leading economic indicators. German current account and trade balance. Belgian business confidence.
U.K. and Switzerland: British GDP, industrial production, construction output, and RICs house price index. British and Swiss consumer confidence.

Mexico, Brazil, and Canada: Mexican and Brazilian consumer prices. Mexican industrial production and consumer confidence. Canadian building permits, capacity utilization and factory sales. Brazilian retail sales.
