Holidays: U.S. and Canada observe Labor Day on Monday.

August Purchasing Manager Surveys: Manufacturing surveys in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Vietnam. Private surveys for Lebanon and South Africa. Service sector surveys for Australia, Ireland, Japan, China, India, Russia, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Brazil, Euroland, Great Britain and the United States. Non-oil PMIs for Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. Construction surveys for Australia, Euroland, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, and Ireland.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Data Releases: Monthly trade balance. Weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, chain store sales, and energy inventories.

Japanese and Chinese Releases: Japanese and Chinese reserves. Japanese current account, GDP, Economy Watchers index, and index  of leading economic indicators. Chinese trade balance, CPI, and PPI.

Other Selected Asian Releases: Thai, Filipino and Taiwanese consumer prices. Singaporean retail sales, Taiwanese wholesale prices, South Korean current account, Filipino unemployment, and Indonesian consumer confidence.

Euroland: Second-quarter GDP and employment growth and monthly retail sales and Sentix measure of investor sentiment.

Mexico and Brazil: Mexican and Brazilian CPI. Mexican consumer confidence.
