Central Banks: Monetary policy meetings are scheduled in the United States, Australia, U.K., Poland, Czech Republic, Brazil, Norway, and Iceland. Fed Chairman Powell and Bank of England Governor Bailey will be speaking publicly. The Reserve Bank of Australia publishes its quarterly Monetary Policy Statement.

Holidays and Events: British early spring bank holiday on Monday. Japanese Golden Week holidays continue with Constitution Day on Tuesday, Greenery Day on Wednesday and Children’s Day on Thursday. China’s market will be shut on Monday for Labor Day, and India observes Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday. British local elections are scheduled for Thursday.

Purchasing Manager Surveys: Occupying the first calendar week of the month, next week’s economic release calendar includes numerous PMI surveys that will reveal the latest business conditions and expectations for manufacturing, service sector activity and construction.

Scheduled U.S. Releases: Quarterly productivity and unit labor costs. Monthly construction spending, factory orders, job openings and separations, motor vehicle sales, the trade balance, and employment, unemployment and average hourly earnings. Weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, chain store sales, and energy inventories.

Euroland Releases: Economic sentiment, consumer confidence, unemployment, retail sales, and producer prices.

Members of the Euro Area: German trade, industrial production, orders, unemployment and car sales. French, Portuguese, Spanish and Irish industrial production. Italian, French, Austrian, and Belgian retail sales. French, Austrian, and Finnish trade balances. Austrian and Finnish business confidence. Finnish, Spanish, and Italian unemployment. Austrian current account and PPI.

U.K. and Switzerland: British GDP, Halifax house price index, new car sales, mortgage approvals, shop prices, and money growth. Swiss retail sales, consumer prices, unemployment and CPI.

Eastern Europe: Hungarian and Romanian producer prices. Polish, Hungarian and Romanian retail sales. Hungarian industrial production and Russian CPI.

Nordic Europe: Danish and Swedish industrial production. Swedish factory orders and construction output.

Japan: The monetary base, consumer sentiment, and Tokyo consumer prices.

Other Asian Releases: Indian and Filipino trade balances. South Korean, Filipino and Taiwanese CPI. Hong Kong and Singapore retail sales. Thai business confidence and consumer sentiment. Filipino unemployment, Taiwanese PPI, and Hong Kong GDP.

Australian, New Zealand, and South Africa: Australian and New Zealand building permits. Australian retail sales, home loans, and trade balance. New Zealand quarterly unemployment and labor costs. South African retail sales.

Canada, Mexico and Brazil: Canadian and Brazilian trade balances. Canadian labor statistics and IVEY-PMI index. Brazilian retail sales and industrial production. Mexican consumer confidence and business sentiment.
