Central Banks: Monetary policy reviews are scheduled at the European Central Bank and in Canada, Indonesia, Russia, and Israel. The People’s Bank of China sets its loan prime rates for the coming month, and the Reserve Bank of Australia publishes minutes of its last policy meeting. ECB President Lagarde and Govenors Macklem of the Bank of Canada and Bailey of the Bank of England will be speaking publicly.

Holidays: Rama Navami on Wednesday in India. Tiradentes Day in Brazil also falls on Wednesday.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Data Releases: The Chicago Fed National Activity index, new home sales, existing home sales, the K.C. Fed manufacturing index, index of leading economic indicators, and preliminary IHS-compiled U.S. purchasing manager April survey results. Also weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, energy inventories, chain store sales, and consumer comfort.

Japanese Data: Customs trade balance, consumer prices, tertiary index, revised industrial production, capacity usage, preliminary purchasing managers index, and index of leading economic indicators.

Selected Other Asian Indicators: Malaysian, Hong Kong and Singaporean consumer prices. Unemployment in Hong Kong and Taiwan. South Korean PPI, Indonesian business confidence, and Thailand’s trade balance. Taiwanese retail sales and industrial production.

Euroland Releases: Preliminary PMI, debt/GDP and budget deficit/GDP ratios, construction output, current account, and consumer confidence.

Members of the Euro Area: German and French preliminary PMI surveys. German and Irish producer prices. German, Dutch, and Belgian consumer sentiment. Italian industrial orders, Austrian industrial production, German import prices, French index of leading economic indicators, and Dutch household spending. Greek, Italian, and Portuguese current accounts.

U.K. and Switzerland: British retail sales, purchasing manager surveys, consumer prices, producer prices, labor market statistics, DCLG and Rightmove house price indices, public sector borrowing, consumer confidence and CBI industrial trends and distributive trades surveys. Swiss trade surplus.

Eastern Europe: Czech and Polish producer prices. Polish retail sales and industrial production., Russian GDP, corporate earnings, retail sales and unemployment.

Nordic Europe: Norwegian and Swedish business confidence. Czech and Swedish producer prices. Swedish and Danish consumer confidence. Icelandic CPI.

Australia and New Zealand: Australian retail sales, PMI surveys, business confidence and index of leading economic indicators. New Zealand consumer prices and service-sector PMI.

South Africa and Turkey: South African consumer prices and Turkish consumer confidence.

Canada, Mexico and Brazil: Canadian consumer prices and new home prices. Mexican retail sales, unemployment, and index of leading economic indicators. Brazilian consumer sentiment.
