Central Banks: The Federal Reserve and Bank of England lead a list of central banks reviewing monetary policy that also includes Chile, Hungary, Sri Lanka, and Ukraine. Fed Chairman Powell and BOE Governor Carney will hold post-meeting press conferences. The Bank of England’s quarterly Inflation Report will be published, and a summary of this month’s earlier Bank of Japan Board meeting will be released to the public. BOJ Deputy Governor Amamiya will give a speech.

Events and Holidays: Great Britain is set to leave the European Union on January 31. China is closed through Thursday for the New Year holiday, and Australians observe Australia Day on Monday. Hong Kong will be shut Monday-Tuesday, and South Korea will close Monday.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Statistical Releases: Fourth-quarter GDP. Monthly new home sales, durable goods orders, pending home sales, personal income and spending, PCE price deflator, Chicago regional purchasing managers index, Richmond and Dallas Fed manufacturing surveys, Case-Shiller home prices, advanced trade deficit estimate, and U. Michigan consumer sentiment index. Weekly jobless insurance claims, chain store sales, mortgage applications, and energy inventories.

Euroland Releases: Quarterly GDP. Monthly money and credit growth, economic sentiment, unemployment, and consumer prices.

Members of the Euro Area: German retail sales, consumer confidence, unemployment, import prices IFO Institute’s business climate index. French, Italian, Spanish, and Austrian GDP. French CPI, PPI, consumer spending and consumer confidence. Italian producer prices, unemployment, producer prices, consumer confidence, and business sentiment. Spanish retail sales, CPI, business sentiment, retail sales and quarterly unemployment. Greek, Austrian, and Cypriot producer prices. Irish, Portuguese, and Greek retail sales. Portuguese and Cypriot industrial production. Finnish trade figures and consumer confidence. Austria’s manufacturing purchasing managers index.

U.K. and Switzerland: British distributive trades survey, shop prices, consumer confidence, M4 money, consumer credit and Nationwide house price index. Swiss trade balance, retail sales, ZEW expectations index, and index of leading economic indicators.

Nordic Europe: Danish, Swedish and Norwegian retail sales. Danish, Norwegian and Icelandic unemployment. Swedish trade, PPI and consumer confidence. Icelandic consumer prices.

Eastern Europe: Hungarian unemployment and trade figures.

Japanese Data: Retail sales, industrial production, housing starts, construction orders, unemployment, corporate service prices, consumer confidence, and Tokyo consumer prices.

Other Asian Releases: Thai and Hong Kong trade figures. China’s government-authorized manufacturing and non-manufacturing PMI surveys and index of leading economic indicators. Malaysian and Filipino producer prices. South Korean retail sales, industrial production, and consumer confidence.

Australian and New Zealand: Australian quarterly CPI and PPI as well as monthly releases of money and credit, Westpac-compiled index of leading economic indicators, and NAB’s estimates of business confidence and conditions. New Zealand trade balance.

South Africa and Turkey: South African trade figures, producer prices and money and credit growth. Turkey’s trade balance.

Canada, Mexico and Brazil: Canadian PPI and raw material prices. Mexican retail sales and wholesale turnover. Brazilian unemployment.
