Holidays and Special Events: Japan closed Monday for Foundation Day, and the Eurogroup meets that day as well. British Prime Minister May to update Parliament on Wednesday on the state of Brexit negotiations. Friday is the final day for the 3-week federal government shutdown suspension.

Scheduled U.S. Data Releases: Retail sales, National Association of Homebuilders housing index, consumer prices, housing starts, trade deficit, JOLTS index, small business sentiment, producer prices, average weekly earnings, Empire State manufacturing index, U. Michigan index of consumer sentiment, import prices, personal spending price deflator, unit labor costs, and weekly jobless insurance claims, consumer comfort, mortgage applications, energy inventories, and chain store sales.

Japanese and Chinese Data: Japanese fourth quarter GDP and monthly money growth, tertiary index, machine tool orders, revised industrial production, and capacity utilization. Chinese money growth, bank lending, consumer prices, producer prices, trade balance, service sector purchasing managers index, current account, and foreign direct investment.
