Central Banks: In the week before Christmas, monetary policy meetings are scheduled in Japan, Hungary, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Thailand and The Philippines. Central Banks in Australia, India and Japan will publish minutes of their last meetings.

Friday Holidays: Emperors Birthday. A number of markets will shut early Friday for Christmas.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Statistical Releases: GDP, personal income and spending, new and existing home sales, the Chicago Fed National Activity index, the Kansas City Fed manufacturing index, the  index of leading economic indicators, the U. Michigan consumer sentiment index, durable goods orders, the FHFA house price index and weekly jobless insurance claims, energy inventories, consumer comfort, mortgage applications and chain store sales.

Japanese Data: Customs trade, supermarket sales, department store sales and the all industry index.

Selected Other Asian Releases: Chinese home prices, business confidence and index of leading economic indicators. Hong Kong and Singaporean consumer prices. South Korean producer prices, Singaporean industrial production, Malaysian unemployment and Hong Kong’s current account.

Australia and South Africa: Indices of leading economic indicators. Australian government’s midyear economic and fiscal outlook.

New Zealand and Turkey: New Zealand consumer sentiment, performance of services index, building permits, trade balance, current account, GDP, money growth and food prices. Turkish consumer confidence.

Euroland: Current account, consumer confidence, labor costs and construction output.

Members of the Euro Area: German producer prices, consumer sentiment, and business climate (IFO). Italian, Portuguese, and Greek current accounts. French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Finnish producer prices. Belgian and Dutch consumer confidence. Italian retail sales, industrial orders and hourly wage earnings. French GDP, Spanish trade, Belgian business sentiment and Austrian industrial output.

Britain and Switzerland: U.K. GDP, current account, consumer confidence, distributive trades survey, and public sector finances. Swiss trade balance, money growth, current account and index of leading economic indicators.

Nordic Europe: Icelandic consumer and producer prices. Danish and Swedish retail sales. Danish consumer sentiment and GDP. Sweden’s PPI.

Eastern Europe: Polish retail sales, industrial production and PPI. Hungary’s current account and trade balance.

Canada, Mexico, and Brazil: Canadian consumer prices, retail sales, and monthly GDP. Brazil’s current account and consumer confidence. Mexican retail sales, trade balance and index of leading economic indicators.
