Idle Trucks

June 10, 2009

On my road trip over the weekend, I was struck by the fact that highway rest stops from New York to Maine continue to be full of idled trucks, a sign of weak commerce.  Usually, one sees people activity at truck stops.  Not this time.  Just rows upon rows of parked ten-wheelers with no sign of the drivers.  The recession ain’t over until its over.  The green shoots keep poking up, but much still has not healed.
