Central Banks: Central banks in Australia, India, Mexico, Thailand, Iceland, Serbia, The Philippines, U.K., Brazil, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Peru, and Russia have scheduled monetary policy reviews next week. The Reserve Bank of Australia’s quarterly Monetary Policy Statement and the Bank of England’s quarterly Inflation Report will be published. RBA Governor Lowe and Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Lane speak publicly, as will the Fed regional president Loretta Mester.

Holidays and Special Events: In observance of the Lunar New Year, China is closed all week. Hong is shut through Thursday. South Korea and Singapore are closed through Wednesday, and Indonesia will be closed on Tuesday. New Zealand observes Watangi Day on Wednesday, and Mexico’s Constitution Day in on Monday. U.S. President Trump presents the State of the Union Address on Wednesday.

Purchasing Manager Surveys: Singapore and Malaysia for manufacturing. Japan, India, Ireland, Russia, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Euroland, the U.K., Brazil, China, and Australia for services. The United States for non-manufacturing. Australian, Germany, France, Italy, Euroland, and Britain for construction. Singapore, Hong Kong, Lebanon and South Africa for private sector. Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. for non-oil activities.

Selected U.S. Statistical Economic Data Releases: Some of these are tentative. Quarterly productivity, GDP and unit labor costs. Monthly personal income and spending, factory orders, trade balance, retail sales, employment trends, N.Y. regional PMI (NAPM), consumer credit and IBD/TIPP Optimism index. Weekly jobless insurance claims, consumer comfort, chain store sales, energy inventories, and mortgage applications.

Japanese Data: Monetary base, bank lending, economy watchers index, current account, labor cash earnings, corporate bankruptcies, reserves, household spending, and index of leading economic indicators.

Selected Other Asian Releases: Filipino and Thai producer prices. Chinese reserves. Indian industrial production. Indonesian GDP, current account, and consumer confidence. Malaysia’s trade balance.

Euroland: Retail sales, producer prices, and Sentix gauge of investor confidence.

Members of the Euro Area: German orders, industrial production, current account and trade balance. Italian, French, Irish, Greek, Spanish and Finnish industrial production. Greek and Irish unemployment. Italian and Cypriot consumer prices. Austrian and Greek trade balances.

U.K. and Switzerland: British Halifax house price index, RICs house price balance index and same-store sales. Swiss unemployment.

Eastern Europe: Romanian, Czech, and Hungarian retail sales. Portuguese, Czech, and Hungarian trade balances. Romanian producer prices.

Nordic Europe: Danish and Norwegian industrial production. Danish current account and Norwegian GDP.

Australia, New Zealand and Turkey: Australian and New Zealand building permits. Australian retail sales and trade balance. New Zealand fourth-quarter labor statistics. Turkish CPI and PPI.

Canada: Labor statistics, housing starts, building permits, trade balance and IVEY-PMI.

Mexico and Brazil: Mexican and Brazilian consumer prices. Mexican PPI and consumer sentiment.
