The first full calendar week of 2015 will be loaded up with with data releases.  Aside from numerous purchasing manager surveys covering manufacturing, services, construction and retail activity,

  • Industrial production figures arrive for Hungary, Norway, Malaysia, Germany, Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, Britain, Mexico and the Czech Republic.
  • Consumer prices get released by Germany, Thailand, Cyprus, Turkey, the Philippines, Italy, China, Mexico, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Norway, and Brazil, and
  • Trade figures will be reported for Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, the United States, Germany, Britain, China, Malaysia, Finland, the Czech Republic, Canada, Austria, France, Romania, Hungary, Denmark, the U.K. and Greece.

Chinese, Turkish, Norwegian, Hungarian, Brazilian, Mexican, euro area, and Canadian producer prices are being released, too.

Other data highlights include

  • U.S. auto sales, NAPM index, labor force survey, consumer credit, IBD/TIPP optimism index, and weekly chain store sales and jobless insurance claims.
  • Euroland’s Sentix gauge, retail sales, economic sentiment, and unemployment.
  • German retail sales, industrial orders and current account.
  • French consumer confidence, Portuguese consumer and business sentiment, Spanish business sentiment, and Italian and Greek unemployment.
  • Canadian labor statistics, IVEY-PMI index, and building permits.
  • Australian building approvals and retail sales.
  • The British Halifax and RICs housing measures, as well as U.K. construction output, same-store sales and monthly GDP.

On the central bank watching front,

  • Officials at the Bank of England, National Bank of Romania, and Bank Indonesia hold their first interest rate policy meetings of 2015.
  • FOMC minutes from last month’s meeting will be published.
  • Williams, Evans, Lacker and Kocherlakota are some of the Fed policymakers with public speaking engagements scheduled.

Markets are closed Tuesday for religious holiday in Spain, Italy, and Greece.
