Central Banks: Monetary policies will be reviewed at the Federal Reserve, Bank of England, Reserve Bank of Australia, Bank of Norway, Czech National Bank, National Bank of Poland, Bank of Russia, Central Bank of Malaysia, and National Bank of Romania. Fed Chairman Powell will hold a press conference. Bank of Japan meeting minutes, the Bank of England’s quarterly Inflation Report, and the Reserve Bank of Australia’s quarterly Monetary Policy Statement will be published.

Events and Holidays: Tuesday is election day in America, arguably the most eagerly anticipated event of 2020. The United States and Canada revert to standard time on Sunday. The presidency, entire House of Representatives, and a third of the senate seats are being contested. Markets in Mexico and Brazil will be shut Monday for All Saints Day. Japan observes Culture Day on Tuesday, and Eurogroup and EcoFin have scheduled meetings.

Purchasing Manager Surveys: Many manufacturing, service sector, and construction surveys will be reported during the first week of November.

Scheduled U.S. Economic Data to Be Reported: Quarterly productivity and unit labor costs. Monthly labor statistics (employment, unemployment, and average hourly earnings), factory orders, trade deficit, construction spending, NY regional PMI, IBD/TIPP optimism index, motor vehicle sales, and ADP estimate of private-sector jobs growth. Weekly jobless insurance claims, mortgage applications, consumer comfort, chain store sales and energy inventories.

Euroland Releases: Producer prices, retail sales, Sentix gauge of investor sentiment, and updated EU Commission forecasts.

Members of the Euro Area: German, Spanish, Irish, and Spanish industrial production. Italian and Belgian retail sales. Irish, Portuguese, Greek, and Austrian unemployment. Greek and French trade balances. Dutch and Cypriot consumer prices. German industrial orders, French current account, Austrian producer prices, and Spanish consumer confidence.

U.K. and Switzerland: British Halifax house price index. Swiss consumer prices and consumer confidence.

Nordic Europe: Danish, Swedish, Icelandic and Norwegian industrial production. Swedish orders and GDP.

Eastern Europe: Hungarian, Czech, and Romanian retail sales. Hungarian and Romanian producer prices. Czech industrial production and construction output. Hungarian and Czech trade balances. Russian CPI.

Japanese Data: Monetary base, household spending and labor cash earnings.

Selected Other Asian Releases: South Korean, Indonesian, Filipino, Thai, and Taiwanese consumer prices. Chinese, South Korean and Filipino trade balances. Thai and Taiwanese producer prices.
