Central Banks: Monetary policy reviews are scheduled at the European Central Bank (ECB), Bank of Japan (BOJ), Bank of Canada and in South Korea, Indonesia, Chile and Poland. BOJ Governor Kuroda, ECB President Lagarde, Bank of Canada Governor Macklem, Swiss National Bank President Jordan, and Bank of England Governor Bailey will be speaking publicly. The Fed Beige Book, Bank of Canada Monetary Policy Report, and BOJ Outlook for Economic Growth and Prices will be published.

Holidays and Special Events: France’s Bastille Day falls on Tuesday. Poland’s run-off presidential election is set for Sunday. There is an EU-India summit on Wednesday and a summit of EU political leaders on Friday to discuss a Covid recovery policy.

U.S. Scheduled Statistical Data Releases: Consumer prices, real wage earnings, retail sales, small business sentiment, Philly Fed and Empire State manufacturing indices, June federal budget, industrial production, capacity utilization, National Association of Home Builders housing index, housing starts, building permits, Treasury-compiled capital flows, Conference Board index of consumer confidence, U. Michigan/Reuters consumer sentiment index, and import prices. Also weekly jobless insurance claims, consumer comfort, mortgage applications, energy inventories, and chain store sales.

Chinese and Japanese Data: Chinese quarterly GDP and capacity usage, plus monthly unemployment, fixed asset investment, retail sales, industrial production, and money growth. Japan’s tertiary index of service sector activity.
