Central Banks: Monetary policy meetings at the Federal Reserve, Bank of Japan, Bank of England, and in Norway, Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan, Brazil, and the Philippines. The FOMC will release updated forecasts, and Chairman Powell will preside over a press conference. Governors Carney of the Bank of England and Lowe of the Reserve Bank of Australia hold press conferences also, and RBA minutes get published.

Holiday and Special Event: South African Youth Day on Monday. EU leaders meet in Brussels to decide a number of key appointments, including the fourth President of the European Central Bank, whose eight-year term will begin in November.

Scheduled U.S. Statistical Releases: Quarterly current account. Monthly housing starts, building permits, existing home sales, Empire State and Philly Fed manufacturing surveys, National Association of Home Builders housing index, and index of leading economic indicators. Weekly jobless insurance claims, consumer comfort, mortgage applications, energy inventories, and chain store sales.

Euroland: Quarterly labor costs and monthly preliminary June purchasing manager survey findings, consumer prices, car sales, current account, trade balance, construction output, index of leading economic indicators, ZEW index of investor sentiment, and consumer confidence.

Members of the Euro Area: German producer prices and ZEW index of investor sentiment. French and German preliminary purchasing managers surveys. Italian, Irish and Greek current accounts. Dutch and Belgian consumer confidence. Austrian and Portuguese consumer prices. Irish GDP and PPI. French index of leading economic indicators and Dutch unemployment.

U.K. and Switzerland: British consumer prices, retail sales, retail prices, producer prices, Rightmove and DCLG house price indices, industrial trends index, and public sector net borrowing. Swiss money growth, current account and trade balance.

Nordic Europe: Danish PPI and consumer sentiment. Swedish unemployment and consumer confidence.

Eastern Europe: Czech and Polish producer prices. Polish industrial production and PPI. Hungary’s current account.

Japanese Data: Customs trade, machine tool orders, consumer prices, preliminary manufacturing PMI survey, all industry index, and department and supermarket sales.

Selected Other Asian Releases: Indonesian and Singaporean trade balances. Chinese house prices and South Korea’s PPI. Hong Kong consumer prices and current account.

Australia and New Zealand: Australian house prices, index of leading economic indicators, and CBA-compiled purchasing manager indices. New Zealand’s service sector PMI, current account and GDP growth.

Turkey and South Africa: Turkish industrial production and consumer confidence. South African consumer price inflation.

Canada: Retail sales, consumer prices, manufacturing shipments and orders, and existing home sales.

Brazil: Index of leading economic indicators.
