Non-Manufacturing PMIs in the U.S. and Euroland

The U.S. non-manufacturing purchasing managers index compiled by the Institute of Supply Management edged up 0.3 points to 60.1 in October. Faster growth in sales and jobs outweighed slower growth in new business and prices.
Euroland’s services PMI for October fell 0.8 points to 55.0. The German, Italian, Spanish and Irish readings each dropped more than 1.0 point, but the French PMI went up 0.3 points, mitigating the slowdown of growth in overall Ezone services.
The differential between the U.S. non-manufacturing and Euroland services PMI scores widened from 4.0 points in September to 5.1 points in October, most since July 2015. However, the spread between the two economies in manufacturing PMI scores almost disappeared last month, and the sum of the two differentials was less U.S.-advantageous by 1.4 points last month.
