Central Bank of Colombia

June 23, 2016

Colombia’s central bank interest rate was again raised on June 22 after the latest monthly meeting.  The increase was 25 basis points to 7.5%, which is three percentage points above the 4.5% level prior to September 2015.  A released statement observes that inflation of 8.2% in May was still far above the 2-4% target for 2017 but feels the tightening over the last nine months will promote convergence with the target.
