Central Banks:  Interest rate policy meetings are scheduled at the Federal Reserve and in Mexico, Sweden, Norway, Japan, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Thailand.  Minutes from the Reserve Bank of Australia’s December meeting get released.  The FOMC meeting, which is expected to produce a 25-basis point interest rate hike, will be followed by a press conference and new forecasts.  In addition to Fed Chair Yellen, BOJ Governor Kuroda, RBA Deputy Governor DeBelle and Atlanta Fed President Lacker speak publicly next week.  The Bank of Japan releases its quarterly Tankan survey of corporations.

U.S. Data Releases:  Consumer prices, the Empire State, Philly Fed and K.C. Fed manufacturing indices, industrial production, housing starts, building permits, NAHB index, Treasury-compiled TIC capital flows, the quarterly current account, and weekly jobless insurance claims, consumer comfort, mortgage applications, chain store sales and energy stocks.

Japanese Data:  Customs trade, revised industrial output, capacity usage, the tertiary index, the preliminary manufacturing PMI, department store sales, and machine tool orders.

Chinese Data:  Retail sales, industrial output, fixed asset investment, foreign direct investment and property prices.

Other Selected Asian Releases:  Indian, Indonesian, and Singaporean trade.  South Korean producer prices and Indian whole sale prices.  Hong Kong unemployment and industrial output.  Filipino current account and Singaporean retail sales.

Australia and New Zealand:  Australia’s index of leading economic indicators, auto sales, and home prices.  New Zealand’s current account, business sentiment index, and real GDP.

Euroland:  Preliminary purchasing manager survey, the current account, trade balance, construction output, quarterly employment, car sales, and revised consumer prices.

Members of the Eurozone:  German PMIs, IFO business climate, ZEW index of investor investment, and index of leading economic indicators.  French PMIs and business sentiment.  Italian, Finnish, Austria and Spanish consumer prices.  Belgian and Dutch consumer confidence.  Finnish current account and retail sales.  Irish and Belgian trade. Dutch consumer spending, retail sales, and unemployment.  Greek import prices.  Italian trade and current account.

United Kingdom and Switzerland:  Swiss PPI, import prices, ZEW expectations, and new macro forecasts from KOF and SECO.  British CPI, PPI, RPI, labor statistics, DCLG house price index, industrial trends survey, Rightmove house price, and index of leading economic indicators.

Eastern Europe:  Polish CPI, industrial output and retail sales.  Hungarian and Romanian industrial output.  Polish and Czech producer prices.

Nordic Europe:  Danish producer prices, Norwegian trade, Icelandic consumer prices and Swedish consumer confidence and unemployment.

Canada, Mexico and Brazil:  Canadian manufacturing survey, existing home sales, consumer prices and wholesale turnover.  Mexican and Brazilian indices of leading economic indicators.  Brazilian retail sales.

Turkey and South Africa:  Turkish unemployment and South African producer prices.
